Exploring Google’s Gemini AI: A TL;DW Recap

Is Google Gemini better than ChatGPT?

Hi, I’m Alex Camelio, and welcome to Too Long; Didn’t Webinar (TL;DW). Today, we’re diving into the Real Estate Technology Institute’s webinar hosted by Craig Grant, titled The Google Gemini Grand Tour. A huge shout out to RETI for being a fantastic partner and letting us use these videos!

So, let’s dive in.

Google Gemini: The New AI Player

The first big takeaway is that Google now has a major AI platform that goes toe-to-toe with ChatGPT, called Google Gemini. If you’ve been keeping an eye on the AI world but not quite up to date, note that Google recently rebranded its AI tools from Google Bard to Google Gemini about three months ago. The name change was driven by research indicating that the name Bard wasn’t well-received.

Google Gemini vs. ChatGPT

I’ve been experimenting with Google Gemini for several weeks, and itโ€™s impressive. It does almost everything ChatGPT does, making it a strong competitor. However, what sets Gemini apart is its seamless integration with various Google software.

Gemini’s Integration with Google Tools

Here are some standout integrations:

  • Gmail: Gemini can write emails from scratch or reply to emails within seconds, and it can proofread, make spelling corrections, and suggest better wording.
  • Google Docs: It helps with writing and proofreading documents.
  • Google Sheets: Gemini can analyze data, create charts and graphs, and identify trends.
  • Google Slides: It can generate images for slides and remove backgrounds from pictures.
  • Google Meet: Offers enhanced functionality similar to Zoom, powered by Gemini.

These integrations elevate Gemini beyond a standalone AI, providing a comprehensive toolset within the Google ecosystem.

Audience Question

A great question came in from Scott during the webinar: Can Gemini read our emails, sort them, and identify marketing opportunities? Currently, these capabilities are rolling out to certain Android devices, like Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy phones. Soon, they’ll be available on computers with Gmail too.

Final Thoughts

Before wrapping up, here’s a crucial piece of advice from Craig: When using free accounts, you’re the product. Paid accounts offer better privacy, security, and encryption.
